The Heyco Team was able to attend InterSolar 2024! The conference brings together experts and highlights the latest energy technologies, services, companies, and organizations striving to create positive impact on the climate. We were able to meet industry players, take a bird’s eye view of the solar industry, and discuss our planet’s transition into a more sustainable energy future. 

Trending Topics at InterSolar 2024

We always walk away from InterSolar with some interesting insights about the industry (and our business). Here are 3 things we noticed in particular: 

1. Growing concern over the UL 3741 rapid shutdown.

This new regulation does not address wire management so much as it addresses other components in the installation.

👉 The answer: If you’re trying to reduce the number of energized components in an installation, you’ll be pleased to know we have several non-metallic wire management options. 

2. New interest in a skinned-over single cable cordgrip.

When cables aren’t installed right away in single cable cordgrips, debris can accumulate and cause a number of issues.

👉 The answer: Our new skinned-over design – which is in development and coming soon – allows cordgrips to function as a hole plug until you’re ready to populate with wire or cable. 

3. People were drawn to Heyco’s no flange cable clip.

Panel manufacturers are seeking cost-saving measures by eliminating the “lip” on traditional panels.

👉 The answer: Heyco’s no flange cable clip, which adapts seamlessly to this industry shift, providing a secure and efficient cable management solution without compromising on performance.

Skinned-Over Single Cable Cordgrip: Coming Soon

In many applications, a cable is not always installed right away, which leads to water, dust, and debris accumulating inside the enclosure. This new design allows cordgrips to function as a hole plug until final assembly. This enhancement will stretch across 66 single cable cordgrips already offered by Heyco in NPT, PG, & Metric sizes.

✅ Solar power generators have established themselves and are popular in states with programs supporting renewable energy and favorable geographic conditions, such as California.

✅ The industry is currently developing over 400 energy storage projects. These projects will allow utility companies to store and access power produced by the panels, which, in turn, can be distributed to households and businesses.

✅ There are nearly 6,000 ongoing solar power projects across the country, representing about 153 GW. This is a significant increase from 107 GW in 2018, a trend that will continue in the upcoming years.

✅ Solar power growth, spurred by government policy and augmented by strong public support, suggests that solar will secure its place in the domestic energy market.
